The Last Waltz Ensemble will play two full sets on the main stage at the Pour House in Charleston on Friday, September 24, 2010!
The Last Waltz Ensemble performs an amazing playlist of songs by Bob Dylan and The Band - from all the different eras of their careers - from The Basement Tapes and Big Pink to The Last Waltz and beyond. Using vintage instruments and equipment along with "borrowed" arrangements, we will take you on a magical ride through some of the most memorable musical history. You'll hear your favorites alongside some "B" sides and deep cuts...! And don't forget the special guests! We are well-known for bringing up some of our dear friends from time to time...all local and regional musicians who bring their own flavor of Bob and the Band to the stage! We've been privileged to share the stage with some heavy hitters over the years!
The show is part of the bands Never-ending tour which takes the group through Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, South Carolina, Georgia and beyond. The evening will include a number of special guests, including singer Jessica Sheridan and drummer Jack Friel.
Doors are at 9 pm. More information is available on the bands website www.lastwaltzlive.com or at www.charlestonpourhouse.com.
Nothing could be finer than Waltzin' in Carolina! See y'all there now!

I had the pleasure of speaking with Buffalo Stille from Nappy Roots who will be performing at the Music Farm in Charleston, SC on August 13th, 2010.
CNL: What are you alls songs about/based on?
BS: Our songs are based on real life, and real events that have happened.
CNL: Does Nappy Roots write their own songs?
BS: Yes, all of the members of Nappy Roots write their own material.
CNL: Who are your musical influences?
BS: Some of my personal musical influences are James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Big Daddy Cane, Eric B, and Lords of the Undergrounds among many more.
CNL: How did Nappy Roots get started?
BS: We were all attending Western Kentucky University at the same time and were all the top dogs in class and we sort of formed our own group and that eventually turned into Nappy Roots.
CNL: How did the band get its name?
BS: It was something along the lines as: Two of the band members were talking Skinny Deville was one of them and he said man this is nappy and the other band member said yeah you have got some nappy roots and the name stuck.
CNL: What is your latest album?
BS: Our newest album just released last week and it is called Pursuit of Nappyness. And in order to reduce our carbon footprint, we worked with the label in order to produce a package for the CD that is 100% recyclable. Nappy Roots believes that is really important to take care of your environment.
CNL: What advice do you have for new and upcoming musicians/bands?
BS: Unfortunately, the music industry has kind of put an age limit on musicians, so if you havent been making it as a musician it doesnt mean that you cant work in the music business, but you may want to try writing, producing, or other jobs in the music industry. Also, you need a fan base because without a fan base your band will not make it. So try and get your fan base before you go big.
Again, Nappy Roots will be performing in Charleston, SC at the Music Farm on August 13th. Be sure to come, it is going to be an awesome time and make sure you dress to impress because a photographer will be present from CarolinaNightlife.com!
