Life is so precious. It is often so hectic that we do not always take time to realize its frailty until it is nearly too late. Unwittingly, taking for granted those people in our lives who we laugh with, confide in, enjoy simple times with, learn from and share with"our "memory-makers", the people who we come to adore in friendships and people who quite frankly, we could not imagine a life without. Days pass and friends often get mixed in the shuffle. One day you wake up and wonder where all that time has gone. However, life also carries with it the probability of the most amazing miracles!! A sign from above to slow down, enjoy the quiet stillness in the air, making time to APPRECIATE all that surrounds us in this beautiful life. There is the miracle of family, friendship, and health. In most cases, the power of faith & determination can and will heal ANYthing. There are two local ladies who, as I write this, are most unaware of how they serve this community as a most shining example of strength. Enduring their individual struggles, with this quiet determination, they are two lovely women armed with extreme courage and a desire to win. Both love laughter and have smiles so big their mere presence can light up an entire room. And they are also two women who need the help of this community".as soon as possible. ********ROBIN"S STORY************* Robin Lobosco, a 22-year native of Charleston, has recently been diagnosed with End-stage Renal Disease. She desperately needs a kidney to save her life. Many of us understand that with insurance comes a nasty reality: sky-high premiums that don"t truly protect a person when it comes down to the wire. You can be a "hard worker with a heart of gold" (as Robin"s Friends describe her) and you still run into walls trying to get an insurance company to do the right thing. Kidney transplants involve a complicated process that always begins with monies up front. So she is like many, a person who is stuck in the middle: not indigent enough to qualify for support yet, while insured, unable to convince insurance companies to take care of their responsibility to her".In this writers opinion, a moral wrong that could cost Lobosco her very life. The good news is, friends have gathered to see to it that Robin does get the kidney she needs. And we won"t stop until the mission is accomplished. This Sunday, June 22, Friends of Robin"s "By Land or Sea" event takes place at the Charleston Maritime Center (noon to 8pm). It is described as being the "Taste of Charleston meets Rockville Regatta". Live music from the extremely talented Mr. Shane Clark as well as Tiffany"s Closet and more!! Food tasting from places like 82 Queen, Noisy Oyster and many many more. WEZL will be there with a live radio remote. Boats-a-plenty. Live auctions and children"s activities such as face-painting and jump castles. Raffles with fantastic prizes. All in all, a day of great fun for an even better cause. ********RAMEY"S STORY********** Around the same time that Robin was struggling with her diagnosis, Ramey Reeves was laying down outside a Mt. Pleasant store making an emergency call to her family doctor. On a lone shopping spree, Ramey was stricken with the odd sensation of flickering vision and an odd episode she knew could not be normal. Nearly six months ago, Ramey was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Surgery showed it to be cancerous and angry. An enormous Grade 4 (the worst) tumor was growing in her brain. Reeves is a life-long artist, actress, and singer, who is devoted to her church. It is said that she regularly carried her Praise CDs with her in hopes of spreading her message through her music. For many years, in fact, this is a woman who has strived to touch people with her art and give something to strangers in need. It is now time for us to return the favor. Two weeks ago, Ramey had to undergo surgery to remove that lemon-sized tumor. A doctor has said that even when removed, these things almost always return. There are alternative medical options available in Texas, however. As of today, family & friends ask the community for healing prayer, as they anxiously wait for their loved one to open her eyes again. *******HOW YOU CAN HELP: Certainly, there should never ever be a "price tag" placed on a person"s life. There are ways to prevent illnesses from spreading or worsening but with that comes a large bill. In the case of both of these wonderful women mentioned above, I propose we absolutely shoot for the moon. Please search deep within your hearts and take time to come out to Sunday"s Land & Sea Event and also THIS FRIDAY NIGHT!! That is when we will be kicking off WyldFEST (a two-part series benefiting our neighbors). Beginning at 845 PM, this Fri 6/20, at A Dough Re Mi in Mt Pleasant, three bands perform for Robin & Ramey"s benefit. We are featuring a great line up: Headliners Rev Dr Johnny Mac & the BootyRanch welcome special guests Tommy Thunderfoot & the Accelerators, Skye Paige and John Melnick. For complete info on bands and events, please see the articles below. There is zero cover to attend any of these events but donations are encouraged. The only requirement: a heart. I know this community will come together with an outstanding show of support for Robin & Ramey. Thank you and I hope to see yall at the shows! This is Jaden Wylder and THAT"s your Wild Report for what"s truly important in the Lowcountry. As for the headliner, let me tell yall this: You KNOW I have no shortage of admiration for different artists in this area and beyond. I support ‘em all, best I can, with my writing and promo stuff….and I have even gone so far in a recent Carolina NightLife article (hint—see archives Art’s Bar & Grill) to agree with one gent’s opinion of a certain area guitarist being the best thing this side East of the Mississippi—-and then some. In all fairness, however, I hadn’t stumbled across the Rev and his band at the time….so now—I have some more. Rev. Dr. Johnny Mac & The BootyRanch is EVERY bit as FUN as the name—-in fact, more so!!! They get the crowd up on their feet with their EXTREMELY irresistable, magnetic energy force that’s set to music. Booties be shakin’ fo sho!!! The band’s aggressive style blends well with their high-grade talent and polished finesse. Rev. Dr. Johnny Mac himself seems to possess an unmistakable charm that pulls at the very souls of the masses. A spectral being appears to take on the shape of human form as his haunting -yet oh so pleasurable- musical vibe takes over the entire room….A true seance to each ‘n every one of the senses, this is one scene you DEFINITELY want to be a part of!!!! So please come and bear “Witness” to this magical stage experience——AND be so kind as to help out local neighbors in need of assistance. We will hope to see you there!!!!

Article provided by: Rick Lyke
Do You Lyke2Drink" That’s why veteran drinks journalist Rick Lyke created Lyke2Drink. Read about beer, wine and spirits; travels to breweries, distilleries and wineries; festivals and events; alcohol issues; beverage marketing; and have fun along the way. Cheers!
So let’s say gas prices keep going up, the stock market slides further, inflation really kicks in and job cuts grow. What will you do to ride out the recession"
According to Nielson Co. most Americans will cut out tobacco, eggs, soda pop, food storage bags, and paper plates and cups. Among the items that will not come off the grocery list: beer.
Presenting to a crowd of 1,000 consumer packaged goods executives in Arizona at Nielsen"s Consumer 360 Conference, the company said consumers would cut other spending before they give up beer, seafood, candy, dry pasta and pasta sauce.
Nielson said it used sales results from previous recessions to predict what might happen this time around.
The fact of the matter is that beer is one of those little rewards that most working men and women hold near and dear. You can force them to conserve in many areas, but at the end of the day a cold beer is one of those things they feel they deserve for enduring all of the other garbage that is tossed their way.
Sure, they blanch at paying $4.00 a gallon for gasoline, but they will gladly pay $5.00 for a pint of IPA.

WILD REPORT: PEER INTO MY CRYSTAL BALL…. This past weekend, while yard sailing, I came across a most amazing sight: There under the shade of a somber, ancient-looking tree, sat an old woman. Her hair fell almost to her knees, straight, shiny and gray—yet there was something very intriguing about her. I took a few steps closer to see what she was selling. I could not believe my eyes Her sale table had canning jars lined with what she called her "treats." A tad bit alarmed at first, I began to back away. However she had seen me approach and from under her well-worn robe, appeared a long bony finger, crooked in my direction, as she spoke, "Come here, My Pretty". Well, this determined writer is not easily scared off and so I decided to be nosy and I obeyed her. As I got closer, I noticed an ageless smile and blue eyes that sparkled in the light of the sunny day. As she held out her sale item, she said, "I am Freyja Endora and Miss Jaden, this is for you Please accept this gift!" Heyyyy! I like gifts. I accepted it. Soooo….If the Lowcountry truly had a magical crystal ball that would show us the future in entertainment, what would we have the opportunity to see" As I tentatively gazed into it, the rolling lights of the ball in my hand began to illuminate its murky surface just long enough….to answer my question. "At 963 Houston-Northcutt" it says, "that is where you shall see the wave of the future. Go now. Run along and share with your friends!!" She seemed so sincere and urgent, that I felt I must accept this latest mission. I arrived at 963 Houston-Northcutt just in time to meet up with Cinebarre CEO, Terrell Braly. And it was just my luck!—The crystal ball was right on target——Mr. Braly (looking every bit the rock n roll part in his faded Beatles t-shirt and black blazer) wanted to give me a tour! If you"ve read my original article (please see archives) on Cinebarre, then you know we are getting very close to its Grand Opening. Soon, we fortunate Charlestonians are about to experience a whole new wave of the future in entertainment. A few years from now, when it is a household name across the country, we can say we were there "way back when". We entered through the front door of the formal Regal Movies In Mt Pleasant building and immediately, I was swept into a visual inner-cortex that caused friction bells in my imagination. I could literally feel it working. As my host guided me through the interior, the darkened theater seemed to come to life as soon as one foot was in the door. Here is what I envisioned (and a hint, since I was there, it is all true): My favorite colors of silver and black are everywhere. Looking down at the floor we see shiny black epoxy cement floor. Gone are the raunchy, bubble-gum lined movie carpets of the 70’s.The building is also painted in silver paint by none other then Ralph Lauren. There are no cheap imitations here. With Cinebarre, it is only the best. There is no musak, no elevator music…but ah yes, there IS a cool vibe of music flowing throughout the room. There are couches and chairs to make customers feel at ease. Welcoming aromas assault the senses in the most delightful way I see no cheesy snack bars. Only a very polished look of class. There are no ads to cheapen the look. Instead the scene is more like a refined Planet Hollywood, the type of place that celebrates the industry with the respect it deserves. It is a virtual art gallery of movies that I envision in this place. Stainless steel beer and wine bars with stools. Vintage decor in the themed silver and black. Classic movie pieces. TRUE ART in its finest form. The patron steps inside to a place where they can relax and have a most enjoyable evening. As we tour further inside, I see the auditorium where I once stood and it has been transformed into a beautiful kitchen area, complete with all the finest equipment: grills and pizza ovens, baking areas and silver countertops. It is such a cozy environment and the highly efficient staff sees to that: They greet us in a way that makes us feel right at home. All of the highly trained management professionals have been with the company since its first location"s inception in Asheville, NC. Sounds pretty good, right" Right. Ohhh, so you thought I was done"""" It is my crystal ball, my imagination"I will tell you when I"m done"haha—Just hang in: I saved the best for last: Phase II will bring to life an outdoor entertainment area. Far beyond the main building, there is an elevated grassy knoll, so inviting, it beckons us to step closer….and closer. Also, there are the iron gates leading to that casually comfortable area to the side. There people will curl up on blankets or in their favorite chair and enjoy an outdoor flick. Not far off, there is a permanent production house, casting film on to the large screen outside. There are local bands performing at the beginning of the show. Again, no muzak"Instead, something really cool to add to the aura of this fantastic place: live music. As I turn, to tear myself away from this place, I see something glitter in the distance. It is a young and beautiful woman, with long shiny hair and blue eyes sparkling yet again in the reflection of the now setting sun. She holds out a delicate hand to me and winks. Time to give the ball back. My journey here is done. (Or is it"") See yall at the Grand Opening on Friday June 27, 2008!!! Oh and as for Freyja Endora goes, huh, well, sometimes we think "It only happens in the movies”-"Hmmm, or could she be a very real character existing in the dream-like imagination of a writer who loves the arts so much, that I feel I MUST share it with you. After all, that is what she gave me the crystal ball for in the first place: To share it"with you! My final prediction""" Simply stated by my friend Terrell""Cinebarre: Taking over the world"-" I interrupt and finish for him…"Yes taking over the world…one very cool city at a time!" This is Jaden Wylder and THAT"s your Wild Report for what"s new and exciting in the CarolinaNightLife!! Enjoy!! **For further info, please check my earlier article in the news archives or go to http://www.cinebarre.com/
