“Aries Lounge"” one probably inquires. That’s not surprising. Most are oblivious to this establishment. Sans a major mass-marketed exposure, coupled with the absence of a striking, sizable sign to match the senior neighbors’ appeal, Aries Lounge"s dearth clarifies why it is easily overlooked when meandering the active streets in Raleigh’s Warehouse district. However deficient in the standards that accompany the typical bar, Aries Lounge, none-the-less, distinguishes itself as the new kid in town providing Raleigh’s tenured hotspots with quite the run.
With only 2.5 months under its belt, this freshman is surrounded by the seasoned giants in downtown Raleigh, as it is within minutes from both the Glenwood S. and main Warehouse districts. With the competition breathing down the Lounge’s back from all corners, it would seem pronounced that the pressures would get the best of this newbie. Yet, rather than rival its neighbors through analogous tactics, Aries Lounge emulates the prerogative of an absolute ease that becomes increasingly more difficult to grasp in the modern bar/lounge.
Based solely on my observations, Aries Lounge floods with unique ingenuity. Tribal tune dancers against abundant, plush couches throughout the entire lounge; the engaged conversations at the bar against those at the fish tank (the establishment’s fulcrum); and the multifarious patron body relaxed from their selection of respectable wine, liquor, and beer options presented. This unintentional, but developed, pairing system solidly acts towards the Lounge’s advantage, both in a social and economical sense. The emergence of Aries Lounge on the Raleigh nightlife scene should be viewed as a godsend, so to speak. The unparalleled nature provided by this already repeat favorite makes Aries Lounge Raleigh’s sole trump, which is a primary factor in the development of Aries Lounge as somewhat of a shibboleth among the select Triad nightlifers. Certainly, this rookie stands on its own for very apparent, yet appropriate, reasons.
I enjoy nothing more than experiencing the extraordinary, especially in nightlife. I would classify breaking a homogenous mold set by others as extraordinary, indeed.
Aries adjust (no, breaks) those supposed, set standards, and the elders could certainly take a few lessons from this very respectable new kid in town.
