CHARLOTTE, NC—Who says 13 is unlucky" A lot of people are bound to get lucky when CarnEvil 13 rolls out the vinyl carpet once again on October 28, 2006. That"s right. The biggest, wildest, most shockalicious Halloween party in Charlotte is back for its 13th year of debauchery and, as always, your good time benefits a great cause. Tickets are available in advance at Jeff"s Bucket Shop (1601 Montford Drive, 704.525.0425) and The Common Market (2007 Commonwealth Avenue, 704.334.6209.) Tickets are a $25 donation in advance or $40 at the door. Get yours early and avoid the lines! What does your ticket get you" Glad you asked. Beer, wine, food and an array of entertainers that will have you hip shaking, gyrating and licking the boots of the girl next to you. Live bands on the "06 lineup are Alternative Champs, GOGOPilot, J.T. and The Blame, Lamb Handler, Taradactyl, Suburban Shaman and Anders Manga. Guest DJs spinning in the groove lounge include D"Nooch, Starseed, Anthony Ramirez, Spaceboy, Tober, Kate, Jeff Nagel and Christian. Still need more" Avec la Force will keep the drums beating. Raks Noir will be on hand for your belly dancing pleasure. Evil Fire Assembly will get you hot throughout the night. Mistress Jadetiger will feel your pain in her torture chamber. And then there are always the clowns. Taunt them if you dare. This year"s revelry takes place 8 p.m. " 2 a.m. at a new location in NoDa at 2417 N. Davidson Street across from the Neese"s Sausage building. (You"ll be wondering what"s in that appetizer now, won"t you") Don"t bring the kids (strictly ages 21+), but do bring an open mind wrapped in a kick-ass costume. As always: no costume, no admittance, no exceptions. Trust us. You"ll be glad you put some thought into it. Your donation benefits Regional AIDS Interfaith Network. Since 1992, RAIN has worked tirelessly to educate people in the Charlotte region about HIV/AIDS and to promote respect and dignity for those touched by the crisis. For more information, visit www.carolinarain.org. CarnEvil happens each year thanks to Abraxus, Inc., a non-profit venture supported by a group of artists and general mayhem-makers. The first CarnEvil took place in 1993 and was brought to its current state of decadence by makeup artist Jade Wills, photographer Jim McGuire and many other selfless visionaries dedicated to the pursuit of outlandish partying with a purpose. For directions, additional information and some flavorful photos, visit www.carnevil.org. Remember: You can get as stupid as you want at CarnEvil, just not when it comes to driving home.
