CHARLOTTE, N.C. Thursday September 28, 2006 " The Carolina BrewMasters are pleased to announce that the 8th Annual Charlotte Oktoberfest Beer Festival has officially sold out, with 5,000 tickets purchased. The festival will be held on Saturday, September 30th from 1 to 7pm in Memorial Stadium just South-East of Uptown Charlotte. Total festival participation, including designated drivers, brewery staff, volunteers and complimentary ticket attendees, is expected to be just over 6,000. "We are excited about this first-ever advance sell out of Charlotte Oktoberfest. A tremendous amount of hard work from countless volunteers has gone into accomplishing this goal, and we truly appreciate their efforts" states Todd Bowman, President of the Carolina BrewMasters. "The 5,000 festival patrons and over 300 participating beers has once again raised the bar for regional beer festivals, and helped this event continue to hold the distinction as the largest beer festival in Charlotte history." As with previous Charlotte Oktoberfests, the majority of festival proceeds will benefit a locally-based charity. For 2006, the Carolina BrewMasters have partnered with the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, an organization whose mission is to end the devastating effects of MS. Last year"s festival generated over $18,000 for locally based charities. This year"s event will feature live music from four regional bands, delicious food provided by five different food vendors and the Creative Loafing Beerlympic Village, a captivating assortment of competition, games and entertainment that is sure to please festival patrons. The festival begins at 1:00pm, but the festival gates will open at 12:00 Noon to allow patrons advance access to the festival food court.
