  Uptown Cabaret NOT in Uptown?? July 16th, 2007 Posted by Hunter Wilson

  An interesting article was published in this week"s Charlotte Business Journal about Uptown Cabaret! The article, written by Table Talk columnist Ashley London, talked about potential plans for Uptown Cabaret to be sold to a mixed-use developing company. The company that the article stated was interested was a Raleigh-based company. Of course, neither the Raleigh-based company nor Uptown Cabaret made comments in the article. However, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Department staff Keith MacVean stated that if Uptown Cabaret were to move, center city Charlotte would NOT see another topless club in a long time. I started thinking what the loss of Uptown Cabaret would do to our city"s nightlife" Let me preface these statements by saying that I am personally not a strip club guy but I do know its purpose in the nightlife scene. If Uptown Cabaret were to leave center city Charlotte, I believe we will lose a valuable nightlife asset to Charlotte. Think about all the times you and your buddies are drunk at the end of the night and go to Uptown late night. It"s a short couple of bucks cab ride. Well, if it moves, you can bet you will be dropping a chunk of change to get to it. Let me also mention the Sunday night SIN night that has been legendary for years.
