Life is so precious. It is often so hectic that we do not always take time to realize its frailty until it is nearly too late. Unwittingly, taking for granted those people in our lives who we laugh with, confide in, enjoy simple times with, learn from and share with"our "memory-makers", the people who we come to adore in friendships and people who quite frankly, we could not imagine a life without. Days pass and friends often get mixed in the shuffle. One day you wake up and wonder where all that time has gone. However, life also carries with it the probability of the most amazing miracles!! A sign from above to slow down, enjoy the quiet stillness in the air, making time to APPRECIATE all that surrounds us in this beautiful life. There is the miracle of family, friendship, and health. In most cases, the power of faith & determination can and will heal ANYthing. There are two local ladies who, as I write this, are most unaware of how they serve this community as a most shining example of strength. Enduring their individual struggles, with this quiet determination, they are two lovely women armed with extreme courage and a desire to win. Both love laughter and have smiles so big their mere presence can light up an entire room. And they are also two women who need the help of this community".as soon as possible. ********ROBIN"S STORY************* Robin Lobosco, a 22-year native of Charleston, has recently been diagnosed with End-stage Renal Disease. She desperately needs a kidney to save her life. Many of us understand that with insurance comes a nasty reality: sky-high premiums that don"t truly protect a person when it comes down to the wire. You can be a "hard worker with a heart of gold" (as Robin"s Friends describe her) and you still run into walls trying to get an insurance company to do the right thing. Kidney transplants involve a complicated process that always begins with monies up front. So she is like many, a person who is stuck in the middle: not indigent enough to qualify for support yet, while insured, unable to convince insurance companies to take care of their responsibility to her".In this writers opinion, a moral wrong that could cost Lobosco her very life. The good news is, friends have gathered to see to it that Robin does get the kidney she needs. And we won"t stop until the mission is accomplished. This Sunday, June 22, Friends of Robin"s "By Land or Sea" event takes place at the Charleston Maritime Center (noon to 8pm). It is described as being the "Taste of Charleston meets Rockville Regatta". Live music from the extremely talented Mr. Shane Clark as well as Tiffany"s Closet and more!! Food tasting from places like 82 Queen, Noisy Oyster and many many more. WEZL will be there with a live radio remote. Boats-a-plenty. Live auctions and children"s activities such as face-painting and jump castles. Raffles with fantastic prizes. All in all, a day of great fun for an even better cause. ********RAMEY"S STORY********** Around the same time that Robin was struggling with her diagnosis, Ramey Reeves was laying down outside a Mt. Pleasant store making an emergency call to her family doctor. On a lone shopping spree, Ramey was stricken with the odd sensation of flickering vision and an odd episode she knew could not be normal. Nearly six months ago, Ramey was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Surgery showed it to be cancerous and angry. An enormous Grade 4 (the worst) tumor was growing in her brain. Reeves is a life-long artist, actress, and singer, who is devoted to her church. It is said that she regularly carried her Praise CDs with her in hopes of spreading her message through her music. For many years, in fact, this is a woman who has strived to touch people with her art and give something to strangers in need. It is now time for us to return the favor. Two weeks ago, Ramey had to undergo surgery to remove that lemon-sized tumor. A doctor has said that even when removed, these things almost always return. There are alternative medical options available in Texas, however. As of today, family & friends ask the community for healing prayer, as they anxiously wait for their loved one to open her eyes again. *******HOW YOU CAN HELP: Certainly, there should never ever be a "price tag" placed on a person"s life. There are ways to prevent illnesses from spreading or worsening but with that comes a large bill. In the case of both of these wonderful women mentioned above, I propose we absolutely shoot for the moon. Please search deep within your hearts and take time to come out to Sunday"s Land & Sea Event and also THIS FRIDAY NIGHT!! That is when we will be kicking off WyldFEST (a two-part series benefiting our neighbors). Beginning at 845 PM, this Fri 6/20, at A Dough Re Mi in Mt Pleasant, three bands perform for Robin & Ramey"s benefit. We are featuring a great line up: Headliners Rev Dr Johnny Mac & the BootyRanch welcome special guests Tommy Thunderfoot & the Accelerators, Skye Paige and John Melnick. For complete info on bands and events, please see the articles below. There is zero cover to attend any of these events but donations are encouraged. The only requirement: a heart. I know this community will come together with an outstanding show of support for Robin & Ramey. Thank you and I hope to see yall at the shows! This is Jaden Wylder and THAT"s your Wild Report for what"s truly important in the Lowcountry.
