Distillery Pictures, a production company based in Raleigh, N.C. and division of Trailblazer Studios, Inc. is currently casting for a new reality series for FLN [Fine Living Network] to air January 2010.
The series (the name could not be released at this time) premise is “helping out socially flawed individuals, known as ‘tools’,” according to Brenna Eckerson, series producer. What is a ‘tool’ you may ask? Well, the series defines a tool as an individual with an obvious character flaw that they’re oblivious to.
Fine Living is the fourth in a series of major brands from Scripps Networks that includes the Food Network, Home & Garden Television and the DIY/Do It Yourself Network. Scripps Networks is owned by The E.W. Scripps Company.
“Everyone knows someone who’s an over-the-top flirt, or an annoying suck-up at the office, the list goes on and on,” said Eckerson. “We’re looking for groups of friends that care about their ‘toolish’ friend and they wanna help–but they’re just too close to them to say anything.”
That’s where this fun, light-hearted show comes in, FLN is giving people the opportunity to say what they’ve always wanted to their friends. Through real-life situations and scenarios these ‘tools’ and their flawed ways are exposed and experts are brought in to change their behavior and help them see where they’ve gone wrong.
The series began production in June, and will shoot five episodes in North Carolina in the Raleigh-Durham area, Charlotte and Wilmington. The remaining six episodes will be shot across the U.S., including New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Boston.
Distillery Pictures is still casting for ‘Tools’ in North Carolina. If you have a Tool that you’d like to nominate, please send a brief email with your name, contact info and a description of your friend’s behavior to: dprealitycasting@gmail.com . Please put your name and “TOOL CASTING,” in the subject line. Or you can submit someone online @ www.MyFriendIsATool.com.
