The Charleston Animal Society is proud to announce our tenth Annual Celebrity Chili Cook-Off. Held at the City Maritime Center on the water in beautiful downtown Charleston, dont miss the excitement! Local celebrities will don their chefs hats and present their favorite chili recipes for you to enjoy.
Join past Best in Show Winners TV 2 Anchors Brad Franko and Brendan Clark as they try to regain their title as the Kings of Chili. Come out and sample the cooking talents of local celebrities like Representative Tim Scott and Charleston County Councilwoman Colleen Condon and Charleston County councilman J. Elliott Summey. Newcomer Veteran television journalist Warren Peper now with The Post and Courier as their multimedia producer and Laura Lee and Heather from the mornings on 98X could be the dark horses in this event. Clear Channel top Chili cook Kelly Golden from 94.3WSC is ready to crush her competition with her winning recipe. Local radio star and three time winner, TJ Phillips and his crew Ric Rush and Gary Griffin from the morning show WEZL FM and four time Best of Show Winner Tanya Brown from the Two Girls & a Guy will square off to claim their titles as King or Queen of Chili. Last years winner for Best Presentation Cpl. Paul Brouthers Spokesman for the S.C. Highway Patrol and last years winner of Most Traditional chili, Meterologist Dave Williams and his souse chef Erin Kogal anchor from ABC News 4, are ready to take their prize. Charleston County Solicitor Scarlett Wilson, wants to take back her crown for peoples Choice and Tracey Amick, Reporter TV 5 is hoping to spark interest in her chili recipe. The City of Charleston Fire Department will sponsor a competition between their fire houses and the winner will compete against our local media and political celebrities. These local celebrities and more will be battling for the title of Charleston Chili King or Queen and fighting to help homeless animals. All are ready to tickle your taste buds with this years winning recipe.
Celebrity judges include the renowned Chef Frank Lee from Slightly North of Broad, and Cook book author and cooking show celebrity Chef Bob Waggoner and Tristan Restaurant head chef Nate Whiting formerly of the Woodlands.
The fun begins Saturday, Dec.5th, 1pm-5pm at the Maritime Center, 10 Wharf Street near the City of Charleston Aquarium. Music food and a Kids Fun Zone will top off the day for all the family to enjoy.
Tickets are Adults $25 donation and include chili, beer, wine, oysters, hot dogs and festivities. Children 10 and up are only $10 and under 10 are FREE. Tickets may be purchased in advance online at www.charlestonanimalsociety.org at the shelter at 2455 Remount Road or Call 843-329-1546 to order by phone.
Tickets will also be on sale at the door the day of the event. All proceeds from this event benefit the humane programs of the Charleston Animal Society. Please see our website at www.charlestonanimalsociety.org for details.
