The Charlotte skyline at night is absolutley beautiful. The lights of the city radiate out from the darkness surrounding it. With its amazing architechtures and glittering lights from the NASCAR Hall of Fame and the new Duke Energy building even the most skeptical out of towner has to admit: Charlotte is beautiful at night. Loft 1523 has taken advantage of this gorgeous skyline and incredible city to bring one of the best lounges in town. Located on Elizabeth Avenue a few blocks outside of uptown parking is plenty and there is no fighting for sidewalk as you're walking in. Finding the door is a bit hard to find if you're parked on the street. It's located on the backside of the building and I saw several people walking around with a lost look on their face. You can either take and elevator, with makes it feel like you're going to some posh party only a few are invited to or get your workout for the day in and walk the stairs. Personally I'm lazy and so elevator it is.
Depending on if you're on the list or not the charge is $10. I thought this was a bit steep until I went inside. Loft has one of the most unique and gorgeous spaces in the Queen City. Sheer drapes hang from the windows and there are plenty of cushy chairs and sofas to give the impression of a very intimate evening with a couple of the hippest people in town. A great open space for dancing and a room long bar makes Loft a great place to go to impress people visiting. The best part however is when you step outside. Nevermind the humidity of a Southern Summer; the view of Charlotte is breathtaking! The patio wraps around the front and side of the building giving everyone who wants it a view of the city lights. The whole place screams exclusivity. But it's far from stuffy. The atmosphere and people out at Loft give a fee spirited and happy vibe. Cocktail service is on top of things and they attend to your every need the entire night. The bar staff also works hard to keep you happy. I will say that the night I went it was a bit warm inside, it could be from all the hot salsa dancing though.
There are several events that take place throughout the week. Saturday is a personal favorite, Rumba! Latin Night. With the World Cup underway this is the place to be after the games. On all the T.V. screens there are recaps of plays and the music is a great mix of house and reggeton on Rumba night. There's also kareoke, trivia and special event parties held there as well. If you're looking for a place that will make you feel like royalty, without the uptight feeling Loft 1523 is the place to go.
