The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is gearing up for its annual Guys & Dolls Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction, recruiting Charlottes most prominent young professionals to participate in the event!
What does becoming a bachelor or bachelorette in Guys & Dolls really mean? Good people, Good times, Great Cause! says Eric Yurtkuran, a bachelor in 2009 and the events co-chair in 2010.
Each year, thirty young professionals come together to fundraise and ultimately auction themselves off, along with a fabulous date package, for an amazing cause- to cure this countrys most fatal genetic disease, cystic fibrosis.
Dont take it from us! Karen Houston, a long-time event participant says, "Guys & Dolls is such a fantastic event and supports, in my opinion, one of the most deserving causes. I participated in the 2009 auction as a way to get involved in the community but also to have a little fun networking and making new friends. It was so much fun, I continue to stay involved to this day and managed to make a few life-long friends along the way. I can't say enough good things about this event and the CF Foundation!"
Frequently Asked Questions about the Guys & Dolls Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction:
Do I have to get on stage the night of the event?
No, not if you dont want to be on stage. In addition to live auctioned bachelors and bachelorettes, there is a silent auction portion of the event as well. But, if you are on stage you do get to walk out to your own personal theme song, a definite perk.
Is the person who buys my date package going to take me on the date?
Many times, a couple or group of friends purchases the date package to use on their own. But, some lucky bachelors and bachelorettes do go on their dates! On average, about 3 out of 10 people end up going on some portion of their date with the winning bidder.
Has there ever been a bachelor or bachelorette to not have a single bid on their date package?
Nope! This has never happened, and never will. Average date packages sell for around $1,200!
Do I have to personally pay for the items in my date package?
Never. All of the date package items are obtained from generous individuals and companies who support nonprofit organizations. Its all about reaching out to your connections to find some stellar date package items. Plus, any donation received is tax deductible!
Ive worked hard to put together this date! So, where does the money go when its sold?
Nearly ninety cents on every dollar raised from date packages is invested the best way possible- in saving lives. The CF Foundation funds vital research that is on its way to finding a cure for the disease, and supports local, cutting-edge care centers for patients.
