Last night was a very exciting show for Columbia, South Carolina with country music royalty, George Strait, Reba McEntire, and Leanne Womack. The Colonial Life Area was 9,000 strong with crowd singing, dancing and screaming. The show opened with Leanne Womack, the princess of country music, nominated for the 2010 Inspirational Country Music Award, singing such favorites as Last Call, and I hope you dance. She said I like to keep country, country with a fiddle and a steel guitar.
Reba McEntire, the queen of country music, and television sitcom star, entered the stage with such energy, power and grace that she is famous for. With 20 years in the music business she performed many old favorites along with new favorites. There was lots of crowd participation and appreciation for her music. Melissa Peterman, who played Barbra Jean on Reba, the television show, joined the stage dressed in a large USC banner wrapped like a cape and a shirt with George Straits picture on it. She was holding a beer with multiple straws and said she was a little drunk. Reba and Melissa sung the theme song Im a Survivor, from the show. Leanne Womack joined the stage with Reba to sing the duet Does He Love You standing on opposite sides of the stage as though fighting over a shared lover.
Other songs that were performed by Reba and favorites of the crowd were, I Keep On Loving You, Strange and I Want a Cowboy to name only a few.
Last to join the stage was everyones favorite George Strait, the King of Country Music. With celebrating 25 years in country music, he hit the stage with his new hit Twang and the crowd went crazy. He also sung a few favorites, Heartland and I Hate Everything just to mention a few of many. George has over 400+ singles to his name.
The stage at the Colonial Life Arena is awesome with the center stage with seating all around and large screens showing live feeds makes it so you can view everything that is going on at all times.
Cowboy hats and cowboy boots seemed to be everywhere among the young and the old showing the true spirit that country music is alive and well.
