For the past few weeks you could practically hear the growling of stomachs and the licking of lips across Charlotte, all in anticipation for the glorious Queens Feast. The buzz about the event has been all over the city and social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter, which has made every food lover anxious for the event to begin. The good news, Charlotteans, is the time has finally come! The 10-day food extravaganza has arrived and without a doubt your taste buds and stomachs will be satisfied by one (or more!) of the 83 participating restaurants.
Queens Feast, also known as Charlotte Restaurant Week, is one of the most enjoyable events Charlotte has to offer. People begin preparing for the experience weeks in advance by making reservations at the upscale restaurant of their choice. Each restaurant is required to offer a three course, prix fixe dinner menu for $30 per person, however, some restaurants go above and beyond by including a bonus course or an alcoholic beverage. All different types of cuisine are represented, allowing everyone a chance to indulge in their favorite delicacy.
Not only do Queen City residents get to enjoy a royal treat, they also get a chance to gain appreciation for this wonderful city by learning what all it has to offer. Adventure to areas such as Dilworth, Elizabeth, Lake Norman, South End, South Park, Uptown and all others in between and experience different sides of the city. There are plenty of treasures in Charlotte waiting to be discovered by new and old residents.
Those who decide to enjoy the offer of a delicious, affordable meal are not the only ones who benefit from this special week. The participating restaurants take full advantage of these 10 days to impress new and returning guests in hopes of increasing their clientele. They are able to showcase their best and most popular food items for a great deal, which will force diners to revisit the restaurant in order to satisfy their cravings.
Restaurant Week has been a highly successful event since it began in July 2008. Due to the positive response the event has received, it now occurs twice a year in the summer and winter. Queens Feast representatives stated on their Twitter account that while enjoying delicious food and service, the local economy is positively impacted. The past three summer Restaurant Week events of 2008, 2009 and 2010 have raked in $8.58 million and have served over 178,000 dinners. That doesnt even include the results from the winter events! Each year the amount of money and dinners have significantly increased, which shows more people are taking advantage of the variety of restaurants and bars in Charlotte and feel more comfortable with exploring their surroundings.
This amazing celebration of culinary excellence is a chance to spoil your stomach, enjoy a cost-friendly night out with family or friends and gain a new respect for your city. What are you waiting for? Go fall in love with a new restaurant, savory steak, delectable dessert or Charlotte as a whole!
