Whether you love the taste or simply drink it to be social, beer is a beloved drink by many. Maybe you have experienced an intense game of beer pong, cooled down with an ice cold Corona on a summer day or warmed up with a high gravity beer that gets straight to the point. However you prefer it, beer has time and time again proven to provide a good time and a variety of tastes to appeal to everyone. The Flying Saucer Draught Imporium knows this better than anyone and share their love of this popular beverage with amateur beer consumers to experienced connoisseurs among their 14 locations in the United States.
Charlotte is lucky to be one of these select locations. Across the street from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Flying Saucer is definitely a hot spot to grab beers with friends. The Saucer offers around 80 draught beers and well over 100 bottled beers, which does not even include the large number of specials available. Whichever style of beer you desire, Flying Saucer will deliver to your personal beer needs. Whether you fancy some type of ale, lager, stout, porter, cider, pilsner or any other type, the Saucer has an impressive selection of each type and the hardest part will be to make your decision.
The U.F.O Club is one of the ways the Saucer shares its passion for beer, by encouraging people to taste new styles and brewers. The club is a favorite among patrons and a fun challenge for all. To become a member of the U.F.O. club, you pay $18 and receive a Beerknurd t-shirt and a personal magnetic card, which you will swipe in order to keep track of each beer you have enjoyed. As a member, you are limited to adding only three beers per visit to your card. The goal of the club is to drink 200 different beers in order to receive prizes and to be inducted into the Ring of Honor, which allows you to have your own plate, saucer, on the Flying Saucer wall. The plate is inscribed with your name, a quote of your choice and a number, which shows what number person you are to complete the goal. The best part is the $100 bar tab plate party on a day of your choosing, when your plate is revealed!
The Saucer is more than just a great place to get beer, too. Its a place where a big group of friends can go, find a large enough table to seat everyone and enjoy each others company. Watch a sports game on one of the many televisions lined across the bar with your good friend. Play a game of darts or shoot some pool with a few people. Or sit outside on picnic benches and meet someone new and interesting. Not to mention, the best part is you are doing all this while discovering and rediscovering the beauty of a tasty beer!
