Whether its curling up on the couch with a good chick flick, or grabbing a large buttered popcorn and seeing a thriller at the theater, a good movie is always a fun choice! The Charleston International Film Festival (CIFF), coming May 18-22, will be bringing a plethora of delights to make every film lover happy.
This years CIFF will be screening 85 films, sneak previews and premieres, which showcase both veteran and emerging filmmakers. The wide variety of genres includes shorts, features, documentaries and animations. Along with the screenings, free workshops and industry panels will also be offered to those interested in learning more about the art of film-making from professionals currently working in the film industry. The educational seminars offer valuable learning opportunities and range from animation to movie editing to 3D film-making.
The Charleston International Film Festival, a non-profit organization created in 2007, has the goal of bringing people together through the art and science of film. CIFF sees the art of film as having the power to touch human emotions and provoke thought. CIFF seeks to realize their goal with an international film and screenplay competition, which showcases the talent of emerging filmmakers and writers from the U.S. and around the world.
The five day event -- which brings in visitors from across the region, the United States and internationally -- explores all genres of film in a wide range of subject matter. Attendees will get to see the latest sneak previews and premieres of some of the best new features, documentaries, shorts and animations of local, national and international filmmakers..
